What moves you? What makes you wake up and step out of bed in the morning? What is that one thing you live for? What you burn for? Being a huge Alan Watts fan, I listened almost all of his lectures and read some of his books, but one lesson carved into my mind. ”What is money was no object?” I remember him talking to his students about what do they wanna do after their graduation and most of them would say they would like to be writers, painters, poets but would also say that what they want won’t get them enough money in life and that they are fully aware of that. He would ask them ”What would you do if money was no object?” and when they finally decide and make a plan on what they would love to do he would say ”Then go out there and be that.” Most of the people find this foolish, but it’s really that simple. We can live a long boring life doing things we don’t want to do or we can just follow what we desire and see where it leads us. We can have all the money in the world, and I promise you it won’t make us happy as much as living the actual life we want to live. 20 years of working behind a desk and avarage paycheck or 5 years of saving money, practicing, working on developing our passion in our dream job and eventually having more money than that office dude? Don’t always play safe. If you’re good at something, you work for it and you are one with your passion, it’s guaranteed you’ll eventually succeed. And once you succeed you’ll have enough money to keep on doing it. It’s all very simple, we’re all a little bit scared and we over think and play it safe. For what? For waking up one day being 40 and wanting to do it all over again but differently? There will be obstacles on the way and we’ll wish we never even began, but those are all things that are supposed to happen to us so we can learn. I was fighting this simple rule for almost my whole life and now finally accepting this opened my eyes and made me move forward. Give it a shot, don’t regret the chance you didn’t take. Ask yourself: ”What do I desire?” Sea of love, S.
